I have been involved with the Neighbourhood Policing Programme for over 3 years. I have decided to return to Lancashire Constabulary and I am awaiting a posting. I reflected upon how far we have come in that time and the Influence that the Programme, has had in shifting the focus and performance of Police Forces. I hope that, I have assisted the project teams in providing support and advice during the implementation of their action plans.
As the programme expands to a wider Citizen Focus agenda it is a natural time to leave and accept a new challenge. I have met with the new Field Officer team and I am greatly impressed with their energy, enthusiasm and ideas for the task ahead. I will pass over responsibility for Wales and West Mercia to Ch Insp Clive Perry an already very experienced Field Officer who has been working in South west England. It is about time a Welshman was running the All Wales show. I pass over responsibility for West Midlands, Warwickshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire to Ch Insp Andy Bennett in early January 2009. Andy is the current NP project lead for Avon & Somerset Police and is well versed in the challenges that Forces will face in the coming months. I wish them both the very best of luck in their new posts. I am sure that they will receive the same welcome and support that I have enjoyed over the last few years. I will say my goodbyes at the regional meetings next week.
