Neighbourhood Management A number of forces in the region are working hard to improve their Neighbourhood Policing Delivery through adopting a Neighbourhood Management approach. I recently visited the Southampton CDRP who are adopting the force’s computerised Neighbourhood Management System to co-ordinate their community engagement and problem solving activity. Their approach and their development of the NMS from their existing PRIME database are likely to produce some interesting effective practice.
Congratulations to Gloucestershire Gloucestershire has become the very first police force in the country to achieve the prestigious Investors in Excellence Award across the whole force area. Through achievement of the Investors in Excellence standard organisations stand out as high-performers that are focused on their customers and stakeholders. It is an independent standard used internationally in business, allowing organisations to benchmark themselves against some of the top-performing companies in the world.
Change of Field Officer We have recently appointed some additional field officers in order to enable us each to provide a greater level of support to a smaller number of forces. Corresponding with this my colleague Kevin Boyce has decided to return to Lancashire. This has provided me with an opportunity to drastically reduce the number of hours I spend driving through the glorious South West of England and cover forces closer to home. A colleague from South Wales, Garry Thomas, begins with us on 15 December and will cover the region. I will be visiting with him and there will be a gradual handover process taking place during December and January.
Thank you I have thoroughly enjoyed my period of covering the South West Region and I wish to thank everybody that I have come into contact with for the warmth of your welcome and the enjoyment I experienced whilst working with the numerous dedicated professionals that I have met.
